The ChallengeSince 1984, CAMP, Inc. has assisted more than 1,500 manufacturers with hands-on improvement projects, resulting in $410 million of economic impact on Northeast Ohio companies. Founded as the Cleveland Advanced Manufacturing Program in the early-1980s, CAMP is a leading Manufacturing Extension Partnership center for the National Institute of Standards & Technology, an Ohio Edison Center and a major stakeholder in the Ohio Intellectual Property Collaborative.
CAMP was looking for a new partner to help optimize and manage the email channel for their two e-newsletters - CAMP Online and QuestLine. They were experiencing a number of significant challenges: the inability to monitor bounced-back emails, invalid addresses or opt-outs through an automated process; wanting more sophisticated graphics to be incorporated; and, too much server downtime. CAMP also needed the ability to add additional newsletter campaigns and manage those campaigns in-house. Their long-term goals were to increase the number of subscribers to generate more leads.
The Solution
Precision Dialogue built a solution (an ASP model) that allows CAMP to manage their email campaigns from their desktop. This includes managing the content of the newsletters, the database files and the reporting. Through Precision Dialogue's extranet, CAMP has the ability to change the newsletters at a moment's notice and see revisions instantly. The newsletters then link back to a site-let that automatically archives the issues on the Precision Dialogue server. CAMP can also download reports that track bounce-backs, opens, click-throughs and leads. They have the flexibility to download any report and access real-time results.
Precision Dialogue also re-designed the look and feel of the newsletters to compliment the brand reflected on CAMP's Web site. A monthly calendar was initiated as well. The new newsletters allow the end-users to click through to the Web site as well as browse between the various newsletters. The new design gives CAMP a more consistent look, yet maintains the sophistication of their identity.
The Result
CAMP has enjoyed the flexibility of creating newsletters on their own, with the peace of mind that the system will not fail. Their response rate has increased 20% since launching the new concept. CAMP is able to follow up on click-throughs with immediate sales calls and track reporting to adjust the database, which is always in sync with their internal systems.
"We partnered with Precision Dialogue because of their strong marketing, creative and technical resources," said Cindy Nelson, Director of Marketing & Sales Support for CAMP, Inc. "Many can deploy an email campaign, but they offered a more sophisticated and integrated approach to compliment and strengthen our existing brand."
CAMP experienced a smooth transition from the previous company, and they have been able to launch newsletters within 48 hours of the production.
Precision Dialogue pushed CAMP to adopt a new concept beyond what CAMP was looking for. Although it took a little longer to accomplish, it was worth the extra time. "We view Precision Dialogue as more than a vendor, but a true business partner," added Nelson.
